Mean, Median, Range, and Mode:)

so let me tell you about M.M.R.M. or Mean, Median, Range, and Mode.
so here are the numbers for our example...
15, 9, 17, 23, 44, 3.
So here's how you do mode.
you add 15+9+17+23+44+3=111, then you divide it by how many you have. 111/6=18.5
so the mode is 18.5.

now the median's turn...

So what you do is find the middle number and that's it basically, but you have to put it in order so it's
3,9,15,17,23,44, then your middle number is 15 or 17.
so the Median is 15/17.

now for range...

to do the range you do the biggest number minus the smallest one, so it's 44-3=41

So the range is 41

Last is the Mode...
the mode is were you find the most of the same numbers, so it would be all!

so the Mean is 18.5
the Median is 15/17
the Range is 41
and the Mode is all the numbers!!!

prime and composite!!!

P and C is a little tricky to me but I'll show you all I know...
here's how you tell it's prime: it can only divide by 1 and it's self.
here's how you tell it's composite: it can divide by 2 or more pairs like say it's 6, it can divide by 1,2,3, and 6. So the pairs are: 1 and 6, and 2 and 3.

Here's some questions...

Is 11 prime or composite?
it's prime.
Is 81 prime or composite?
composite, by: 1,9, and 81.
 Oh ya I forgot that if it's like 9 it's still composite because it has 3x3 in it but it would just look like this 1,3, and 9.
so that's it, see ya later!!!

Area and Perimeter

so because we just learned about shapes I'm going to tell you about area and perimeter.
so here's the question...
(It wont let me go below the picture)
So let's do perimeter 1st...
since it's a rectangle you add 55+55=110, then you add 62+62=124
last add 110+124=234
So it's 234ft

Now area's turn...
so it's basically multiplying 62x55= 3410
so it's 3410ft

$$$!!!

now we're doing money!!!

say we are at the store and a doll cost $4.26 and you gave $20.00.
how much would you  have left?

so just subtract!

$20.00-$4.26=$15.74

so you have $15.74 left over!

shapes 3-12

hey I'm going to show you all the shapes from 3 to 12 sides, now let me tell you about it...

3= triangle
4=square
5=pentagon
6=hexagon
7=heptagon
8=octagon
9=nonagon
10=decagon
11=hendecagon
12=dodecagon

so that's all the 9 of them!

word problems

You have 20 cookies and you have 7 friends you want to give it to, but you want 4 to your self. How many do you give your friends?

so 1st you take away the 4 cookies
20-4=16
2nd, divide 16 by 7

16/7=2.7
so it's 2.8

O.O.O. : Order Of Operations

if you want to remember the O.O.O.  just remember this saying...
Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally
a         x           u     i        d       u
r         p            l     v        d       b
e        o            t      i                  t
n        n            i      d                 r
t         e            p      e                a
h        n            l                         c
e        t             y                         t
s        s
i
s

exponents!

      So let's talk about exponents...
So here's the question...

98= what?
Here's how you find out.
So, you change it to 9x9x9x9x9x9x9x9
1st and 2nd is 9x9=81
3rd now 81x9=729
4rd, do 729x9=6561
5th, do 6561x9=59049
6th, do 59049x9=531441
7th, do 531441x9=4782969
8th, do 4782969x9=43046721
 so it's 43046721

But that was a hard one so lets do an easy one...

53= 5x5x5
5x5=25
25x5=125
Sooo it's 125
Ok you should probably get it now so...BYE!!!

xxxxxxxxxxxx!!!!!!!!!!!!

now time or x!!!!
here...
123x564
so right to left.
4x3=12
then you do the 1 is in the tens place
4x2=8+1=9
then 4x1=4
so it's 492 but thats only 1/3 of it!
then 6x3=18
take the 1 and add it to the tens place.
so it's 6x2=12+1=13
carry the 1
now it's 6x1=6+1=7
now put the magic zero in the very right, and it's
7380
last  5x3=15
carry the 1 and,
5x2=10+1=11
carry the 1
5x1=5+1=6
so it is 61500
very lastly you add them all up and it would be 69372
and that's it so BYE!

divide!!!!!!!!!!

you know... DIVIDE!!!!!
so here,
995/5
So now it's left to right.
9/5=1 with 4 left
now the next.(with the 4 in front...)
49/5=9 with 4 left.
now the last.
45/5=9.
so it would be 199!

Now subtraction...

So subtraction is the hardest one for me, but i can do it still.
So here is an example,
1000-582

Now you take the right and subtract,
0-2
But if it's a 0 you go to the next one and I'll show you
1000=099/10
So now it's ten minus two
10-2=8
now to the left,
9-8=1
Now again,
9-5=4
Now it's 418 and that's the answer!

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

So here are the basics... 1st addition.

So there are 4 basic things. They are: add, subtract, times, and divide.
Now let's talk about them...

1. Addition! It's the easiest for me to do. Let me give you an example...
   463+582
1. look at the numbers. 2. start from right to left or the opposite of reading to add the numbers.
   463
582=5

3.add the next one...
  6
+8= 14
4. now put the one with the next set of digits.
1
+4
+5=10
so the answer is 1,045

Hi!!!

Hi I'm  Landon  the "math wiz!!!"
And I will be showing you some stuff about math...
